The World Breastfeeding Week is observed globally from 1–7 August every year to raise awareness about the benefits of breastfeeding for both the baby and the mother. Agragami India, a partner of the HCLFoundation, also marked this occasion in its 7 intervention areas in Noida under Uday Project.
The Agragami India team carried out extensive groundwork to inform pregnant women and nursing mothers in their respective areas about the sessions planned during WBW, encouraging and motivating them to attend. The Nalanda Way Foundation and Cohesion Foundation Trust also supported in spreading awareness about these sessions.
The sessions were organized by Agragami India, with valuable support from the Health Department and ICDS. Agragami’s FPEs conducted interactive discussions with beneficiaries on topics such as the importance of colostrum, exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, correct breastfeeding techniques, frequency of feeding, immunization, nutrition and care for nursing mothers.
Several sessions were attended by doctors, nurses, ANMs, and other Health Department personnel, who reinforced these key messages for the participants. Officials from HCLFoundation and personnel from other partner organizations also joined some sessions and emphasized the benefits of breastfeeding.
