From awareness to action: together for a tobacco-free generation
Agragami India, with the support of the HCL Foundation under the Uday Program, Noida, conducted a series of group discussions with mothers of adolescents. A total of 157 participants actively took part in 6 sessions. The objective of these sessions was to raise awareness among the community about the harmful effects of tobacco and nicotine, prevent youth from falling into tobacco addiction, encourage families to adopt healthy lifestyles, and promote community support for quitting tobacco.
The sessions emphasized that tobacco is not only harmful to health but also preventable. Participants were encouraged to understand the serious risks of tobacco and nicotine use, especially among youth, and to take proactive steps at home and in the community. The discussion focused on practical ways to prevent addiction, promote healthy habits, and support those who want to quit. It reinforced the idea that collective awareness, early communication with children, and community support are essential to building a tobacco-free future.
