The Creche Project, implemented by Agragami India and funded by the Azim Premji Foundation, aims to provide safe and nurturing care for young children aged 6 months to 3 years. The project focuses on ensuring proper childcare, nutritious food, regular growth monitoring, and opportunities for early childhood development. It also supports working mothers by providing a safe environment for their children while they are engaged in their daily work. Currently, the project operates 40 creche centres across six Panchayats in Mohanpur Block, Gaya district, Bihar. A total of 770 children are currently enrolled across these centres and are receiving creche services.
A new creche centre was inaugurated on 15 October 2026 in Musaila village under Musaila Panchayat, Mohanpur Block, Gaya district, as part of the Creche Project. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the mothers of 20 children and other community members. The opening of the creche centre generated considerable excitement among the villagers.
A special highlight of the event was that the centre was inaugurated by women from the village itself, promoting community ownership and women’s participation in the initiative.
During the programme, the height and weight of 17 children were measured to assess their growth and nutritional status. Of these, 12 children were found to have normal growth status, 4 children were identified as underweight, and 1 child was identified as moderately underweight. Special attention will be given to the children identified as underweight, with regular growth monitoring and appropriate follow-up to support improvements in their nutritional status.
The new centre will provide a safe environment, proper care, and nutritious food for young children while supporting working mothers in the community.
